About

The aim of PAM Electronic Resources (PAM-eR) is to document and disseminate electronic resources on Malaysian architecture. The Electronic Resources acts as a central repository of digital representation of books, journals, and other form of materials. The electronic contents comprise of electronic journals (e-journal), electronic books (e-book), online databases, webpages, e-reports, e-maps, e-pictures/photographs amongst others. PAM-eR will position PAM as the first electronic resources on Malaysian architecture locally and internationally. PAM-eR was launched on 6 June 2021, in conjunction with Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia Resource Centre (PAM RC) Pesta Maya. The fest ran for three days from 4 to 6 June 2021 that featured facilities and supports available in the PAM Resource Centre. Series of talks and discussions successfully attracted members and public participation. Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia established the PAM RC at Jalan Tandok on 26 August 2016. Formerly, PAM RC operated at the PAM headquarters on Jalan Tangsi.  Due to the lack of available spaces at the PAM centre in Wisma Bandar, PAM RC was closed temporarily. Once PAM started its operation at its own facilities at Jalan Tandok in Bangsar, PAM has set up a special committee to reestablish the resource centre. The then Chairman of the PAM Resource Centre, Ar Dexter Koh, headed the committee. Other members of the committee are Ar Chris Yap, Dr. Nor Hayati, Ms. Nurul Anida, Mr. Victor, and Mr. Ridzwan, the PAM project officers. After one year of working, the PAM architectural collections finally found their new premise at the PAM Centre at Jalan Tandok. The initiative continues with new Chairman; Ar Daniel Choo (term 2019- 2020) and presently Ar Adrianta (term 2020 - 2022). Ms. Syafiqah, the PAM RC Executive joined the centre to establish a proper setup and system for the collections. PAM Architectural collections comprise books, periodicals, bound journals, special publications, and special collections. Almost 11,000 of them cover architectural and built environment matters available as references. PAM members and the public are welcome to view the collection list from the official PAM RC website (http://library.pam.org.my:8000/). PAM RC has an important role in collecting and providing access to the available architectural collections. To further provide access to the members and public, a new electronic resources database was established, called PAM Electronic Resources or in short, PAM-eR. The database focuses on Malaysian architecture, aims to reduce the information ‘gap’ related to local architectural practices, education, laws and regulations, and many more. Electronic resources comprise a digital representation of books, journals, drawings, maps, pictures, reports, and web pages. Dr. Nor Hayati Hussain, the current leader for the project PAM-eR envisions it as the primary archive for Malaysian architecture. Her team comprises educators, researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts who share the same aspiration for PAM-eR as the principal digital archive on the Malaysian built environment locally and globally. PAM RC chairman serves as advisors to the project. With the addition of PAM-eR to the PAM RC, more information on Malaysian architecture will be available to the members and public. Collaborative research and smart-partnership with other institutions and research centres are among current and future PAM-eR endeavors. As PAM strives to become a learned society, the PAM RC and PAM-eR will provide all the necessary information to its members for all-inclusive practices.
